Alcohol Delivery Terms and Conditions / Age Verification Policy

This policy applies to the sale or supply of alcohol, in accordance with the mandatory conditions imposed under section 19(4) or section 73(A) of the Licensing Act 2003:

Age Verification Policy

  1. The premises licence holder / Eighty Eights will ensure that an age verification policy applies to the premises in relation to the sale or supply of alcohol.
  2. Our website will have a tick box at the point of sale for confirmation of age. Particular attention will be paid to ensure that the receipt of orders that contain alcohol must be by an adult. It is important to us at Eighty Eights that an adult is at the delivery address to receive the order
  3. Delivery staff will check all ID for any customer who appears to be under the age of 25 (CHALLENGE 25), to confirm the customer is over 18 years of age.
  4. The policy requires individuals who appear to the delivery drivers (responsible persons) to be under 25 years of age to produce on request, before the order is delivered, identification bearing their photograph, date of birth and a holographic mark.

This can include, for example:

  • A photo card driving licence
  • A passport
  • A proof of age card bearing the PASS hologram
  1. If there is no one at the delivery address who is 18 years of age and over, we’ll leave notification of our visit and will return the delivery to the store.
  2. Orders can only be delivered to persons over the age of 18 to ensure that we comply with laws relating to the sale of age-restricted goods e.g. alcohol.
  3. We will not deliver the alcohol if we believe the recipient of the alcohol is drunk or disorderly.
  4. We will not deliver the alcohol if we believe that the alcohol will be passed to under 18s.
  5. Personal details will be retained to comply with Licensing Act 2003 – name, address and payment method. Card details will never be stored electronically.
  6. Legislation places restrictions on transactions involving alcohol, and accordingly alcohol must be either ordered by an over 18 year old or delivered during our licensed hours. If an order is placed and the purchaser of the alcohol cannot be at the delivery address at the selected delivery time, it is the purchasers’ responsibility to ensure that a suitable responsible person is there to receive the order. This responsible person must be over the age of 18 years and must be able to prove their age with a form of photo card identification, as listed above.

Placing an order

We require the following details to process an order:

  • No alcohol shall be sold as part of the 'delivery service' to any place that is not a recognisable dwelling or business address.
  • Full name and delivery address and postcode
  • Contact number or email
  • Alcohol will only be delivered to the same person who has placed the order and is able to provide acceptable means of ID

In order to meet our licence conditions, Eighty Eights is required to keep records of our sales and refusals for a period of 12 months.

Serious incidents will be reported to the police and we will actively seek to prosecute violent offenders, persons shown to be purchasing alcohol for under 18s & credit card fraud.
